The Neo robot by 1X is a next generation humanoid assistant designed for real world tasks and intelligent everyday support. Standing at 5 feet 6 inches and weighing only 66 pounds, Neo delivers an impressive balance of strength, agility, and advanced AI capability. It can lift up to 154 pounds, carry 55 pounds, and manage an arm payload of 18 pounds, making it a powerful helper for both home and professional environments.
Neo’s movement is driven by a sophisticated system of degrees of freedom that allows natural, human inspired motion. Its hands feature 22 degrees of freedom on each side, its arms offer 7 on each side, the neck provides 3, the spine provides 2, and the legs have 6 on each side. This gives Neo the ability to move gracefully, perform detailed manipulation, and operate confidently in dynamic surroundings. The hands reach speeds of 8 meters per second, while the robot can walk at 1.4 meters per second and run at a maximum speed of 6.2 meters per second.
A high capacity 842 Wh battery provides up to 4 hours of run time, and the quick charge system delivers 6 minutes of charging for every hour of active use. This allows Neo to return to work rapidly and maintain steady performance throughout the day.
Safety is central to Neo’s design. It features a soft body made with a custom lattice polymer structure, joints without pinch points, and a head impact criterion measurement under 250. Its low inertia tendon drive system increases control and protects both humans and surroundings during operation. The hands are rated IP68 for full submersion while the body holds an IP44 rating for splash protection, allowing Neo to function in a wide range of settings.
The tendon drive system offers exceptional engineering precision with torque accuracy at 2 percent, backdrivability at 95 percent, repetition accuracy at 0.1 millimeters, and overall motion accuracy of 1 millimeter. The system supports 2 million nominal load cycles and 100 thousand peak cycles, each measured as a single day service replacement standard. Neo also uses linkwise differential IMUs for velocity and acceleration sensing, along with AI powered continuous calibration for smooth, adaptive behavior. Audible noise levels remain extremely low at only 22 decibels.
Inside, Neo is powered by the 1X Neo Cortex platform built on the Nvidia Jetson Thor chipset, delivering up to 2070 FP4 teraflops of AI compute. The robot features a four microphone beamforming array, three stage audio output positioned in the pelvis and chest, dual 8.85 megapixel stereo fisheye cameras running at 90 hertz, and support for WiFi, Bluetooth, and 5G connectivity.
